Individual Mini Literature Review Assessment 2 (30%)

________________________________________________________________________________

Word Limit: 2000 words (+/- 10%) excluding title page and references/ reference list.

Aim of the

Literature Review

The aim of this assignment is for you to learn how to craft a mini literature review by engaging in literature critically and academically (i.e., theory), pertaining to a specific consumer behaviour concept of their choice. You will do this by drawing from:

(1) The theory and concepts you have learnt in class from weeks 1 to 5

(2) The readings from weeks 1 to 5 (in particular, the 2019 Fernandez paper)

(3) Secondary academic research conducted on the concept of your choice. Please use a minimum of 5 additional references in addition to the readings you have been provided under modules.

General Guidelines

A literature review requires you to:

· Use specific search terms in academic databases to find relevant, highly credible journal articles on a specific concept.

· Select key articles to review based on the article scope and focus.

· Read, summarise, and synthesise the knowledge from the articles to evaluate the body of knowledge as a whole.

· Write a well-structured review of the literature that provides both an overview and critique of the body of knowledge on your chosen concept

Your mini literature review might include:

· A clear understanding of the chosen concept, e.g. definition, scope etc

· An understanding of current literature (i.e. what are current studies saying about the concept)

· An understanding of any “conflicts” in the literature about the concept

· An understanding of factors that might influence the concept

· Suggestions for managerial and academic implications (e.g. how is this important for marketers?)

· An explanation of the contribution to marketing theory/future

· An identification of possible future research in this field (i.e. is there a gap in the literature?) Possible Concepts

· Consumer Decision Making Process

· Involvement

· CCT

· Attitude formation and change

· Perception, learning and/or memory

· Motivation, personality and/or emotion

Any other concept request must be approved by Helen Jarrett before Friday 21st January 5pm NZT.

Presentation and formatting

Include a title page with a suitable title for your literature review, a word count (excluding references), and your name and the course code in the header. Students are welcome to use any font of their choice, as long as it is readable and professional (e.g., aerial, calibri, times new roman). Fonts such as comic sans will result in deduction of marks. Spacing to be 1.25 apart and margins 2.5cm (i.e. no change to the standard word document).

Referencing

Students must use APA-7 referencing. Students must have at least 5 other references (that were not provided to you in the course) relating to their chosen phenomenon. In-text citations and a reference list must be provided. References are not included in the word limit. Sources must be reliable, credible and relevant to the concept and academic standard of this assessment (e.g. Wikipedia is not a reliable, credible or relevant source).

BCT Support

Students are strongly encouraged to seek input from the BCT. You can submit a draft of your work to the BCT Canvas page.
